Finding A Good Moving Truck Rental
If you’re moving yourself (rather than hiring movers), you’ll probably need to rent a truck in order to transport your belongings to your new home. The experience you have with your moving truck rental is largely dependent upon you. The planning you do ahead of time can save you time, money and frustration. Here are a few things to consider…
Prices Vary… Widely
With the amount of competition that exists, you’d think every company would charge the same prices. But, don’t be fooled. The flat rates can vary as well as the cost of add-ons such as towing equipment, unlimited miles and rental periods. Make a few phone calls. Look for prices online. You’ll be able to compare the prices from several companies within minutes.
Make Your Reservation Early
A moving truck rental is similar to renting a car. If you wait until the last minute, you could be stuck with a vehicle that doesn’t suit your needs. You probably know the day you’ll be moving. Reserve your truck ahead of time. That way, the truck you need will be available on the day you need it.
Do You Need Insurance?
Driving a large truck may be far different than the vehicle you’re accustomed to driving. Without insurance, one mistake can cost you a lot of money. If you think there’s the slightest chance of making a mistake while driving, consider investing in insurance. There are usually several options available. A few extra minutes and dollars could spare you from a major headache on moving day.
Plan Ahead And Return On Time
Before moving day arrives, try to plan how long you’ll need the truck. Often, moving takes more time than you think. But, you can make a good guess. The reason for doing this is that you don’t want to return the truck late. The fees for doing so are extremely high. On the other hand, you don’t want to commit to a 3-day rental “just to play things safe.” That’s a waste of money. With a few phone calls and a little planning, your moving day can be smooth.
